6 MEDIA & YOU There is no need to suffer in silence Do you need support for your mental well-being ? We’re listening A distinctive flyer designed by Media & You has been distributed around the county Covid-19 and the resulting lockdown has been a difficult time for all, with most people feeling the strain financially and mentally. One Telford-based charity is playing its part to help those affected with a free listening service. Telford & Wrekin Council has granted Telford After Care Team (TACT) extra funding, enabling it to provide “listening sessions” to those who feel their mental health is being affected by the Covid-19 crisis, ideal if you are experiencing either: l a bereavement l work-related anxieties/stress l increased anxiety l situational anguish Media & You designed the above double- sided flyer detailing the free and confidential listening sessions with a counsellor trained member of staff. Discover more at www.tacteam.org.uk A colourful tribute to the iconic Knife Angel Upon the announcement that the iconic Knife Angel statue was making its way to Telford, a local youth charity engaged my services to add its very own tribute. Recharge founder/manager Rebecca Blount asked Media & You to provide T-shirt designs for an anti-knife project that some of the youngsters she works with were taking part in. Music, rap and grafitti art were combining to celebrate the arrival of the world renowned artwork from The British Ironworks, based near Oswestry. Rebecca provided Media & You with a rough sketch, designed by the youngsters and I worked to those. The finished project was loved by all involved. You can see the T-shirt in this video that was recorded to support the project youtube.com/watch?v=iYF-ennJy74 “At Recharge we run activities for and with young people to raise awareness, offer support and give access to new experiences and opportunities,” explains Rebecca. “We also run music based group projects where you can learn a new instrument and gain new experiences through music. “Throughout the year we provide residential trips including sports and adventure activities.” Of course, much of this has been curtailed by the pandemic, but just as soon as normal service can resume, it will. Well the sky is looking blue with a big fat yellow sun for one Shropshire-based music act. California Dreamers is a collective of talented musicians that tours the country, bringing back to life the songs of much- loved acts such as The Mamas and the Papas, The Eagles, Joni Mitchell and James Taylor. Media & You has worked with Tim Mansell from California Dreamers for a couple of years now, helping with flyers, banners and updates to its logo artwork. Tim, who plays drums in the band, describes the show as a fully immersive experience, with the familiar tunes linked by evocative images and soundbites from archive footage - truly bringing the hippy era back to life. The band was about to set out on a number of dates prior to the lockdown being announced. Visit californiadreamers.co.uk to find out more about the band and the colourful show. Expect to see dates for a new run of shows as and when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. We’re listening Do you need to talk? Can we help you? Feel like you need to offload?
