Media and You Newsletter

3 MEDIA & YOU Promoting those who promote others Since launching Media & You in 2017, I have designed and been the layout artist for approximately 20 books, the majority of which have been bespoke products focusing on the food industry. Two books that came back from the publisher during the lockdown period are ‘No Sushi Please, I’m Japanese’ and ‘Coq,Stock and Two- Smoking Barrels’. No Sushi Please, I’m Japanese is the first book from Andrew ‘Koj’ Kojima, a half-Japanese, half-Scottish executive chef who turned his passion for Japanese cuisine into his career after reaching the final of BBC1’s MasterChef. His restaurant - also known as Koj - has been a great success, but like so many, his business has suffered greatly during the pandemic. “I’m afraid that like many others in our industry, we are currently closed for in-house dining, takeaway and delivery, but we are hoping to re-open soon,” says Koj on his website kojcheltenham.co.uk “In the meantime, if you are missing the occasional treat of eating out at a restaurant, you are not alone, but as a second best option, I’m pleased to say that my first cookbook has now been published so that you can recreate some of our dishes at home. “I’ll be happy to offer tips via social media - I’m just sorry we can’t help with washing the dishes!” Coq, Stock and Two-Smoking Barrels is volume two in a series from the charismatic Scott Rea. The first volume of The Scott Rea Project - The Merchant of Venison - sold out and has been reprinted due to phenomenal demand. “The Scott Rea Project started as just that, a project,” says Scott. “It’s a personal passion I have for butchery and food that I wanted to share before the skills and traditions I learnt over a lifetime died away. “But it has evolved and become a movement, a mobilisation of like minded people who feed off my videos - they imitate, replicate, modify and experiment!” The books have been a natural extension to what started as a YouTube channel.
